Hi crafty friends, I’ m passing by to share a new DIY split card design idea with you.
This time, I completely cut the front and the backing panel of the card base and I also did some paper weaving.
The woven paper are is not only decorative. It also keeps everything together and provide stability to the paper.
So this card involves more elements than previous designs but I can assure you it is easy to make and this is only a sample.
You can make it in any size or any colour.
I hope you like it !
Split Card Design #5 – CardMaking Process
- This card measures 5-1/2 ” x 5-1/2″ inches.
- First, I made a 4″ x 5-1/2″ inches top folding card base using the Tim Holtz Maxi Guillotine and the mini Scor-Buddy.
- Using the Tim Holtz Mini Trimer, I cut along the length of the card base each 3/4″ inches. So the vertical stripes are 3/4″ wide.
- I also cut 8 stripes to do paper weaving. These measure 5-1/2″ x 1/4″ inches.
- As you see in the video, I also use Very Very Low Tack Tape to hold the paper in place. This tape is awesome as do not tear the paper at all.
- Please watch the video on Instagram here.

I love these designs, Bibi. I also love your new style of video. No talking just watching you create. Although I do love to hear your voice from time to time. I wish more crafters would do the occasional video this way. I often sit and watch either while having breakfast or having lunch, and videos with no voice overs are perfect for this. Keep creating.
