Acetate Card toppers Tips
Acetate can be used to create layers that will give the illusion of floating elements, adding elegance and a modern touch to your projects.
Here are some very basic but important tips to get creative with acetate.
- Use Light Weight Acetate make sure is not to thin because it will be flimpsy or to thick because can be hard to cut and it wont provide a luxurious finish.
- To die-cut it, is essential to add a Metal Adapter Plate underneath the acetate. Don’t worry if the metal shim vend while doing this. It is totally normal and it won’t get damage.
- To glue acetate, I like to use Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and Deluxe Adhesive Precision Nozzles.
or as you see in my videos, I use the Misti Precision Glue Press that includes both + the gun.
Tips to Glue acetate
To stop glue smearing, get a good bond, and a better finish you will need:
- Apply a thin layer of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and allow it to dry a little bit before sticking anything onto acetate or viseversa.
- If you are gluing die-cuts over acetate, you can use a piece of paper to spread evenly the glue over the back of the die-cuts and allow to dry a little bit as well.
- Be gentle when pressing down die-cuts over acetate
- Only when the glue is dry, use a soft cloth to remove any excess ( I would prefer if you dont have to do this but this is a way to fix it).

Bonus Card and Idea
I made this exact card design years ago here and I thought it could be a good idea to bring it back.
This brakes the page regidity, featurings a clear acetate shaped- window with a smaller glitter topper in the same shape.
I used Nested Hearts Dies to create the window but you can use any basic shape.
