Hi there, today I’m sharing cardmaking ideas using the new Mother’s Day Bouquet stamp set, its coordinating die set, and Quilted Background Stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Just For You Release.
I added transparencies ( acetate) and guess what?
To add colour, I used Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated inks diluted in water. I knew you could use these inks to do colouring but this is the first time I actually tried it and loved it!!
SSS Mother’s Day Bouquet Cards Recipe
- The stamped images and sentiments are from Mother’s Day Bouquet stamp set and Mother’s Day Bouquet Wafer Dies
- I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink and the Misti to stamp everything.
- For the backgrounds, I used the new Quilted Background Stamp, Sage and Cadette Pawsitively Saturated Inks.
- To create a transparent flower vase and a shaker, I used Simon Says Stamp Clear Acetate Sheets and flat confetti.
- TIP: Add a metal shim underneath the acetate to die-cut it perfectly.
- To do colouring, I used Pawsitively Saturated inks dilute in water.
- The “So thankful for you” pre-printed sentiment is from the CZ Design Sentiment Strips FOUNDATIONS
The shaker
- For the shaker, I simply folded a piece of the acetate here to create a pocket and I placed the confetti inside.
- I used double-sided tape to stick all the corners. Then I affixed it behind the die-cut window using double-sided tape.
- Then, I die-cut an acetate vase and stuck it to the floral image using an adhesive square foam that keeps the 2 pieces together at the back. I also added adhesive square foams behind the stems and stuck them over the shaker.
The banner
- Using a bond folder I shaped one of the banners ( the central area of the banner was curved).
- Then using my fingertips I folded the end upwards
- I added glue only at both ends of the banner to be able to glue it at the sides of the transparent vases and not over the acetate.
- Alternatively, you can use adhesive square foams to adhere the banners on;y at the sides of the base and not over them.
- This secures the acetate in place and give more stability to that part of the card.
Pawsitively Saturated Inks Colouring
Just try the Pawsitively Saturated inks like any other watercolour paint.
They are blendable and they have intense colours.
- First, I stamped the images on Arches Hot Pressed Watercolour ( this paper is smooth – no texture)
- For sharp black images, I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink and the Misti
- I applied the ink over a clear block and using a Water Brush I diluted it with a little bit of water and applied it over the paper.
Inks Used :
- Pink Flower: Cheeky and Cherry inks.
- Yellow flower: Citrine and Grapefruit inks
- Lilac Flower: Heather and Galaxy inks
- Foliage: Mix of Sage, Pine, and Fairway inks
