Hello crafty friends, For today I did some hot foiling on acetate using the new Simon Say Stamp Lightweight Heat Resistant Acetate.
I also score and die-cut this acetate. I love it!
It is good for all these things.
SSS Lightweight Acetate ( Heat Resistant)
I decided to use Rainbow hot foil and Wonderful Tulips Hot Foil Plate and Die Set by Spellbinders to try this acetate.
This set includes a large floral cluster hot foil plate, a sentiment hot plate, a border die, and a die to cut out the sentiment.
Hot Foiling on Acetate 🎥
In the video below I show you how I did hot foiling using these sheets using Wonderful Tulips Hot Foil Plate and Die Set
HOt Foiling on acetate Top Tips
- Use low-tack tape the hot plates in place while foiling. I used Very Very Low Tack Tape.
- Make sure the hot plate raised area always goes against the right side of the foil and the back of the foil goes against the paper.
- The back of the hot plate will go always against the hot foil platform.
- If you get any over foiling try using rubbing alcohol and a cotton wool to gently remove it.
- As the SSS Lightweight Heat Resistant Acetate is lightweight you can add a piece of printer paper to the hot-foiling sandwich.
I only added printer paper to the foiling sandwich when using the leftovers of hot foiling with a solid plate ( as you can see in the video) - To protect the acetate and avoid scratching it, place a piece of paper over and then press down using the scoring tool. Do not use a soring tool directly over the acetate.

3. Glue hot foiled sentiment over the transparency.
4. Create a slim shaker element and hot-foiled clear banners.
5. You can add a white backing to the clear sentiments still looks fab.
