New Vellum by Tonic Studios Die-Cutting Ideas

Hello crafty friends, I have 3 die-cutting-only cardmaking ideas for you using the new vellum colours by Tonic Studios and other supplies available at Simon Says Stamp.

As it is hard to catch the vellum details in pictures so I decided to try my best to show you the paper and the cardmaking process in the videos below.

SSS Wafer Dies

For all the projects today, I paired the Nested Round Hearts, Magnolia Blooms (flower), and the Alstroemeria Stem die sets.

These die sets were exclusively selected to feature the papers due to their qualities. They have layered parts, cut and emboss the paper.
So when thinking about die-cutting vellum for your projects chose dies with similar characteristics.

As the Magnolia die set does not include a stem or leaves, I used the stem from the Alstroemeria.

I die-cut the flowers out of different vellum colours and the stems out of Champagne Matte Mirror Cardstock.

Vintage White Vellum is 150 grams, thicker than the others.

As these vellum papers are thinner than cardstock, to die-cut them you can use an extra shim of cardstock just to apply more pressure during the die-cutting process.

You can also affix the dies to the paper using tape and run them through the die-cutting machine 3 or 4 times.

These papers die-cut beautifully and they look gorgeous over dark backgrounds as in the card samples below…

Is hard to beat the look and feel of the vellum on dark cardstock. However, I decided to use a neutral cardstock colour for today just to share more ideas.
