Hello Crafty friends, this month Simon Says stamp launched the Yay You release and I fell in love with the cute strawberry and bear images from the new Strawberry stamp set.
So I placed an order for the Strawbeary stamp set and the coordinating Strawbeary die set and you won’t believe it but they arrived in the UK pretty quick so I immediately give them a try.
I had so many ideas but at the end, I decided to go for clean and simple compositions.
Strawbeary Slimline Cards
These slimline cards measure 8x 4 inches.
Strawberry Bears Cards Recipe
- Strawbeary Stamps and Dies by Simon Says Stamp.
- Arches cold-pressed watercolour paper to stamp the images.
- Tsukineko VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp all the images and sentiments.
- MISTI Stamping Tool for stamping precision.
- Nuvo Water Brushes and Zig Clean Colour Real Brush to add colour.
- Neenah Classic Crest 110 Lb B for the card front and card bases.
- Sakura Black Glaze and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to add glossy eyes to the bears
Due to the size of the little bears, they are easy and quick to colour.
I decided to add a traditional look to the bear in the “Thinking of you card” and the tag in this post.
For the card below I used alternative colours.
- To do colouring, I stamped the images on watercolour paper using Tsukineko VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.
- I always use the Misti to do stamping, even when I don’t mention it.
- watercolour paper is a bit harder to stamp due to the texture so I feel the Misti gives me the chance to repeat the stamping if I need to.
- After stamping I added colours using Nuvo Water Brushes and Zig Clean Colour Real Brush.
- I apply very little colour at the edge of the image and I blended it towards the centre using very little water ( less than a drop).
- Then, I repeat the same process using different shades until I am happy.
- To finish, I die-cut the images and I arranged them as you see in the pictures.
- I also used a Sakura Black Glaze and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to add glossy eyes to the bears
Strawbeary Tag
Here is a little bonus project. I made it using an image I got left from the stamping and I used Nested Tags die set to die-cut the tag.
