I’m back with another easy-peasy butterfly shaped card idea made using my Butterfly Card Creator die set and the Lemon Zest die set by Spellbinders.
This card measure 5x 7 inches.
For the sentiment, I used the new Big Scrypt Hugs die set by Simon Says Stamp and I die cut it out of stunning Silver Holographic Cardstock by Simon Says Stamp as well.

Cardmaking Process
- To make this card, I made my own custom paper by applying watercolour paints over watercolour paper.
- This allows you to easily create colour degradations to later add interest to your die cuts plus you can create any cardstock colour you might like.
- Once the paper was dried, I used the Lemon Zest die set to die-cut the lemons, leaves and flowers.
- I glued the lemons and leaves together using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
- Then, I die cut the sentiments “Hugs” using Big Scrypt Hugs die set by Simon Says Stamp and Silver Holographic Cardstock.
You can have a sneak peek of this cardstock in the Instagram reel here ▶︎
- Next, I made a 5×7 butterfly-shaped card base using the larger die in the Butterfly Card Creator die set.
- I also die cut 2 butterflies and one butterfly body using the largest dies in the Butterfly Card Creator die set.
- One butterfly was cut out of blue cardstock and the other out of Neenah 100 lb cardstock.
- Then, I glued the lemons and leaves clusters over the white butterfly die-cut.
- I glued the butterfly body over the large blue butterfly die-cut and then, I glued the white butterfly over.
- To finish, I glue the layered panel onto the butterfly-shaped card base.
- I used Silver Gems by Spellbinders to embellish and I couldn’t resist using some old silver holographic sequins I had in my stash to add sparkle.
- Studio Katia got some similar silver holographic sequins here. They are gorgeous!
Bonus Project
I also made a quick and easy slimline card using the die-cuts I got left from making the project above.
This card measure 8 x 4 inches.
To make it, I used the same supplies except the Butterfly Card Creator die set.
I added a cute bird made using the Layered Chickadee wafer die by Simon Says Stamp ( also die -cut out of my DIY coloured cardstock)
That’s all for today.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
