Hello crafty friends, have you ever tried Distress Oxide inks colouring? I couldn’t avoid using them again to add colour to the Hibiscus Bloom stamp set images.
You can check a previous post here using different colours of Distress Oxide Inks an a no-line colouring technique.
Hibiscus Bloom Stamp Set
- Hibiscus Blooms is an 8×6 clear stamp set
- It contains 18 individual stamps.
- Coordinating die set available.
Hibiscus Blooms C6 Card
I have made a slimline card, mini slimline + box, and mini Slimline + tag using the Hibiscus Bloom stamp set.
Today I made a standard C6 card to enjoy doing some colouring.
To stamp the images the Hibiscus Bloom stamp set, I used Versafine Onyx Black ink ( waterproof) and the Misti ( stamping tool)
A good watercolour paper such as Strathmore and Arches will ease the colouring and using very little water is key!
For the card today, I used Strathmore watercolor paper and I found that Tonic Card Blanks, both ivory white and white, coordinate with this paper colour plus they are amazing quality.
You can also add sparkle to the images using Sparkle Silk, and/or accents ( dots , lines, glossy eyes) to your images using a black glaze pen and a white gel pen.
I love the Distress inks blendability and their colours.
You will need to apply the ink from the ink pad on a non porus surface , then mix them with a few drops of water to apply them to your artwork.
These inks are easy to use and to apply by using a water brush.
Distress Oxide Inks Used:
- Flowers: Ripped Persimmon, Abandoned Coral
- Leaves: Twisted Citron, wild honey, pine needles.
- Hummingbirds: Twisted Citron, Seedless Preserve, Ripe Persimmon, Villainous Potion.
- I also added Candied Apple and Vintage Photo inks over certain areas of the images to add contrast and shadows.
Thirsty for more?
That’s all for today.
Thanks for stopping by
X Bibi.
