Hello crafty friends, today I have an easy but super fun idea to create a pop-up card using Giant Hugs Card Wrap by Simon Says Stamps.
Once you learn to make the card bases you can make cards for any occasion. (Watch the video here)
I decided to make a Mother’s day and a Father’s Day card to give you some ideas.
These are prototypes, experiments. I learn a lot from a whole day of putting these cards together and even learning a way to create the origami tie.
The tie pop-up! Although to make things easier you can just glue it directly onto the panel. There are many tutorials online to make it. ( I used a 4-1/2 ” x 41-/2″ piece of paper for this card size)
The heart on the pink card also pop-up but I defo like the idea to add shirts or dresses to this type of card.
Apologies, I should offer a Youtube video with this post. I have so many ideas but it has been epic at home and I’m struggling to find time for video editing.
Those who follow me on Instagram know a little bit about the situation. My 6-year-old son (Harris) is autistic and almost 7 weeks ago he is having sensory issues and refused to wear clothes or to go in the car.
This means home arrest, no school, 24/7 care as he loves spreading drink on the furniture and playing with the toilet water … it’s draining.
Anyways, these cards measure 6″ x 6″ inches. It was the sie that fitted the Giant Hugs die cuts.
- To make each card, I used two 6×6 inches card bases
- I used one of them for the inside of the cards and to make a very simple pop-up. mechanism.
- To make the pop-up, I kept the card base closed and I marked 2″ inches from each side to the centre of the top folding
- Then, I marked 1-1/2″ from the top folding to the bottom of the card and I joined the side marks with the top marks. This creates small triangular shapes.
- Using a scoring tool, I scored over the lines to be able to easily fold the paper.
- Then, I folded inwards the triangular shape and I adhered the die-cut arms behind the bottom fold in the triangle.
- It is important to make sure that the arms aren’t off the page (at the bottom of the card base) before glueing them.
- I decorate using different die-cuts and stamps listed below and at the bottom of this post.
