Hello crafty friends, today I’m featuring the new Blossoming Apple set and Botanical Brilliance Inks colours from this month’s Altenew Release.
I’m also sharing an easy and fun idea to add acetate borders to your cards. I think this adds a cool finishing touch to your projects!
***The release is also available at Simon Says Stamps here.
Side Fold Transparency
- This is a C6 card ( 5-1/2 x 4-1/4)
- Paper used: Spellbinders BetterPress A7 Porcelain Panels
- Thick acetate
- The images have been printed using the Spellbinders Betterpress and Altenew Black Permanent Ink
- For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinders Black Betterpress Ink.
- It has a partially die-cut edge made using a large format die-cutting machine.
Top Fold Transparency
- This is measures 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
- Paper used: Spellbinders BetterPress A7 Porcelain Panels
- Thick acetate
- To print the images and sentiments, I used the Spellbinders Betterpress and the Spellbinders Platinum 6 die-cutting machine
- I used Spellbinders Betterpress Black Ink ( there is a full-size pad or you can get smaller pads in sets of 4 inks here)
- It has a partially die-cut edge made using a standard die-cutting machine.
Altenew Blossoming Apple
Here is an image of the set used. This set includes:
- Betterpress plates.
- 4-Layer coordinating stencil (for easy colouring)
- Set of 5 cutting dies ( to cut the main image outline and bold sentiments)
the process…
A long video will be available on June 17th on my YouTube channel here to show you how to create these and other projects with clear edges.
- I used 2 different inks with the Better Press Plate: Altenew Black Permanent Ink and Black Better Press Ink. Both work well.
- After using the Betterpress and my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die-cutting machine to print the images, I allowed the ink to dry for a while.
- Then, I die-cut the images using the Platinum 6 ( standard 6 inches platform) and Platinum 8″ (large format die-cutting machine)
- To add colour, I used the layering stencils and a sticky mat to hold the stencil in place while applying the inks.
- Next, I partially die-cut the border of the card bases ( using different die-cutting machine forms – standard and large)
- I trimmed a piece of acetate and sandwiched it between the die-cut edge and the die-cut image, making sure it wouldn’t be seen on the card front.
- To adhere the acetate in place I recommend using strong double-sided tape and Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive ( allow the liquid adhesive to dry a little bit before glueing the pieces together.
- Add the sentiment and embellish with Crystal Clear Enamel Dots
