Hello everyone, I’m passing by to share an easy, colourful, and eye-catching handmade card using the new Flourish Garden – Craft Your Life Project Kit by Altenew.
This card measures 6 “x 7-1/2” inches and I made an envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.
Flourishing Garden
This gorgeous set includes:
- An 8×6 stamp set – The flower cluster is about 7 x 6 inches and includes 35 individual sentiments.
- Coordinating die set ( 5 cutting dies)
- 6-layer stencil
- 6×6 embossing folder.
The coordinating components of this set are very easy and fun to use. My 8-year-old son, Harris, couldn’t resist doing some of the stencilling.
In the video here I show you how we did it…
Notes about the video:
- You might need to take some time to learn to line up the stencils with the stamped image but once you identify the correct placement you will be able to speed up the process.
- In the video, you also see me using a circular gel plate to hold the stencils while applying inks.
- One single layered stencil could contain different parts of the image. You will need to reposition the stencil to align it with each shape.
- I do not have orange Altenew inks so I blended yellow and red ink colours to achieve orangy colours. You can see in the very brief video that I applied different colours using the same stencil.
- You can also see me using Post-it notes to mask some areas. This is just because my son wanted to join me and he could accidentally apply ink where it wasn’t needed.
The Process
- So all you have to do is stamp the image using Vesafine Clair Nocturne Ink on Neenah 110lb-thick cardstock.
- Allow the ink to dry.
- Then, die-cut the floral cluster.
- Next, align the stencils with the stamped image and add inks.
-I used a combination of pink, red, and purple inks for the flowers.
-Green and blue inks for the leaves.
*** The ink colours used are listed here or at the bottom of this post - Set your coloured die-cut apart.
- For the card base, I used 250 grams cardstock and the larger die in the set to partially die-cut the top of it. I also used a self-healing mat inside of one of the cutting plates to avoid transferring marks from the plates to the card base.
- Then I glued the die-cut floral cluster on the front of the card base.
- To finish, I stamped the sentiment.
The partially cut shape will allow you to stabilize the paper and add a nice finish at the back
