Hello Crafty friends, I’m sharing a new card-making video and 2 easy card ideas featuring the new Exotic Tuberoses set and Inks by Altenew.
Exotic Tuberoses
Exotic Tuberoses include a 6×8 stamp set, a coordinating die set and 6×6 layered stencils that ease the process of adding colour to the stamped images.
The stamp set includes a floral image, a bird, and 22 sentiments to create cards for any occasion.
The Process
In the video below you can see the supplies in action + tips
I hope you find them useful.
Top tips:
- Use the stencils in numerical order as Altenew advised.
- The Alenew Low Tack Sticky Mat will help you keep the stencils in place while applying inks.
- Start using light ink colours and increase colour intensity every time you change stencils.
- Don’t be afraid to mix colours that might seem odd.
- Avoid putting logic to the colouring enjoy it.
- To guarantee colour harmony it is good to use the same ink colours for different elements in your cards but use them or blend them differently.
- Add interest, shadows or contrast by applying/blending different ink colours through the same stencil layer or add a little bit of the ink just over one area of the stencil’s negative space.
- Use confetti or flat shaker fillers instead of sequins and beads for the shaker.
Altenew Fresh Ink Colours Used:
- Rose Quartz
- Puffy Heart
- Ruby Red
- Pale Mauve (to mute pinky colours)
- Maple Yellow ( to add light to the leaves and for the centre of the flowers)
- Misty Moor
- Firefly
- Swamp Green
- Oak Moss
Cas Encouragement Card
Using Atenew coordinating kits, you can create cars in time record time achieving beautiful results
This card measures 5-1/2″ x 4- 1/4″
- First, I die-cut the backing panel using the larger die in the Altenew Ornate Nesting set.
- Then, I glued the large floral image from the Exotic Tuberoses over it.
- Next, I trimmed the paper that was sticking out at the panel and I stamped the sentiment using Altenew Black Permanent Ink and the Stampwheel
- I stuck the panel to the card base using foam adhesive.
- To decorate, I added a little butterfly made using one of the butterflies from the Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams Stamp & Die Set
- I embellished using sequins.
For this 5×7 card, I added a die-cut sentiment using a die from the Sweet Expressions diet set and Brushed Gold Cardstock by Spellbinders.
As shown in the video you can easily create slim shaker elements for cards using flat confetti fillers.
- Add strong double-sided tape to stick a piece of acetate behind a panel with a die-cut window.
- The acetate piece should be 1/4″ or 1/8″ inch smaller than your cardstock panel
- Then add spible-sided tape over the acetate edges, place the confetti mix onto a background panel or directly on the card front panel, and stick the window with the acetate over.
- Trim any excess of cardstock if necessary.
- Done!
Note: For this card prototype, I had to make some adjustments and the top cardstock layer was cut at the same width and length of the acetate behind.
This is not ideal because you will be able to see the acetate at the edges but if for some reason you have to do this, if you have a very sharp trimer you can cut through all the layers without any problem and make it work.
