Snowflakes and Birds Slimline Christmas Card

Hello there, snowflakes and birds are one of my fav combinations for handmade Xmas cards.

So for today I mixed and matched supplies also to share an idea to use standar border dies to die-cut decorative edges for larger formats cards.

I have used one the beutiful snowflakes borders dies by Simon Says Stamp to die cut a border on a slimline panel.

The Cardmaking Process

First, I die cut two slimline panels using Fluted Classic Slimline rectangles.
Then, I die-cut one of these panels along the bottom part using the Snowflakes border.
As the die will cut the border out of the paper, I simply glued them back along the curved edge the die has created on the panel.
Next I spray the paper using Speckle Egg and Old Paper Distress Oxide Sprays + Water.
Once the panel was dried I glued onto the other slimlime panel.

Love Birds

I die-cut the Love birds 3 times. One out of SSS Matte Gold Cardstock and two out of 300 grams white cardstock.
When die-cutting one of the thick white pieces, I tried my best to keep all the pieces on the die so that I could add tape at the back to keep the small die cuts in place.
Then, I applied colour over that piece using alcohol markers (Copics).
Next, I glued the white and the gold silohuette die-cut over to give dimention.

To add a decorative texture behind the birds, I also used the half of an snowflake that I previously die-cut using SSS Shopie Snowflake die .
I also added a few die -cut leaves made using the SSS Laurel Leaves wafer die
To embellish I used Crystals Gems Mix by Spellbinders.
The sentiments are from the Heart of Christmas stamp set . I white heat embossed part of it on black cardstock and the other part was stamped using Versafine Black Onyx ink.
I used the Misti stamping precision tool to stamp the sentiment.
