SSS Stained Glass Heart Card and Box ideas

Hello everyone, I’m passing by to share easy ideas to create cards or box toppers using the new Stained Glass Heart Wafer die by Simon Says Stamps.

The Stained Glass Heart wafer die by Simon Says Stamps will cut 10 pieces in one go. The small heart in the centre and the pieces around it.

To make the 4 x 4 card and the box toppers, I first die-cut hearts out of Doll Pink, Schoolhouse Red, Cotton Candy, and the lilac glitter cardstock included in the Winter Glitter paper pack.

I used Simon Says Stamp Very Very Low Tack tape to keep the pieces together after die cutting to ease the paper piecing process. You can see a similar assembling process in the video here to have a better idea of what I did.

As the Stained Glass Heart wafer die by Simon Says Stamps does not include a backing plate, I just glued the pieces over a piece of cardstock using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and then I trimmed around the edges.

I like to add dimension to my projects so I die-cut extra hearts out of lilac glitter paper included in the Winter Glitter paper pack and then I stick them over using Simon Foam Squares.

To finish these projects I also used pre-printed sentiments included in the Sentiment Strips Bold Birthday Acetate pack by Simon Says Stamp.

Using the Tim Holtz Mini Trimmer I trimmed the acetate sentiments and glued their ends behind the die-cut heart as you can see in the pictures.

The sentiments look like a little handle and they become also a decorative element.

DIY Box-Making Process

These mini boxes measure 3x 3x 1-1/2″ inches.

To make them we are going to need two 6×6 pieces of cardstock. One for the lid and one for the box base or box body.

Then, using a scoring board, we will need to score 1-1/2″ inches around the four edges of each piece and trim the corners to create the box side panels

To guarantee a good fit for the box lid, you will need to assemble the box base or box body first then place the piece to make the lid over and glue the corners while on the base.
