Hello crafty friends, today we are celebrating the new Cozy Hugs Release by Simon Says Stamp and I’m featuring the new Friendly Birds 3D Embossing Folder.
I’m also pre-printed sentiments included in Xmas Wishes Sentiments Stripes.
Friendly Birds 3D Embossing Folder
The 3D Friendly Birds embossing folder is stunning!!!
It Includes 2 dies that will cut out the birds in the embossing pattern allowing you to add dimension to your projects.
You can use the die-cut and embossed images on other projects without the need to use the embossing background.
To work with this kind of embossing folder and dies, I like to die-cut the paper first and then place the die-cuts on the embossing folder to achieve maximum definition.
I also love to use Distress Sprays to easily add texture, colour, and interest.
To add shine, I use any waxy golden/ metallic medium I might have. For today, I used Nuvo Embellishment Mousses (listed below)

Card Recipe
For the embossed background :
- Friendly Birds embossing folder.
- Xmas Wishes Sentiments Stripes.
- Affordable watercolour paper
- Spellbinders die-cutting machine
- Metal sheet ( to use with the embossing folder)
Sprays
- Speckled Egg Oxide
- Broken China Oxide
- Cracked Pistachio Oxide
- Hickory Smoke Oxide
For the embossed and die-cut birds
- Marigold Oxide Distress Ink
- Broken China Oxide Distress Ink
- Fired Brick Distress Ink
- Vintage Photo Distress Ink
- Black Sooth Distress Ink.
- Flat Brush to apply ink over the raised areas of the images
- Gold Nuvo Embellishment Mouse to apply over the bird’s feathers.
- Red Leather Nuvo Expanding Mousse to add colour to the berries and the bird’s beak.

This card is a variation of the one above ( blueish/greyish). The Main difference is that I applied a hint of Walnut Spray Distress Oxide Spray over the panel.
Card Recipe
For the background
- Affordable watercolour paper
- Spellbinders die cutting machine
- Metal sheet ( to use with the embossing folder)
- Hickory Smoke Oxide Spray.
- Walnut Stain Oxide Spray
- Cracked Pistachio Oxide
- Broken China Stain Spray
- Spray Bottle to spray loads of water
- Heat tool ( optional. It is better to allow the panels to air dry)
- When the panel is totally dry, you will need a Flat Brush to apply the following ink over the raised areas of the embossed images:
Black Sooth Distress Ink
Mowed Lawn Distress Ink
For the embossed and die-cut birds
- Marigold Oxide Distress Ink
- Broken China Oxide Distress Ink
- Fired Brick Distress Ink
- Walnut Stain Distress Ink
- Black Sooth Distress Ink.
- Flat Brush to apply ink over the raised areas of the images
- Gold Nuvo Embellishment Mouse to apply over the bird’s feathers.
- Red Leather Nuvo Expanding Mousse to add colour to the berries and the bird’s beak. You can use any similar.
