Hello Crafty friends, I’m a big fan of Tim Holtz Colorize dies, 3D dies, and embossing folders. Oh! and the inks and paints and everything- lol.
Detailed layered dies always invite me to go the extra mile.
I have many ideas for Xmas home decor but motherhood always stands in my way. To make it possible I made this easy Christmas card.
So Eugene the Penguin has 31 parts and the gift she/he is holding in her arms has 6 pieces.
A total of 37 pieces seems scandalous but the assembling process is easy, relaxing, and too quick.
The dies emboss alignment lines on the paper so you can see where to glue the layering pieces.
At the back of each die you will find engraved cardstock colour suggestions. Simply awesome and clever!
EUGENE -Tim Holtz Colorize Dies –
Card Recipe
- Eugene Colorize Tim Holtz – Sizzix Dies
- Be of Good Cheer Exclusive Tim Holtz Sizzix DieCember
- Nested Domed Arches Frames Wafer Dies
- Fresh Holly Sprig Wafer Dies
- Flurry Of Snowflakes Spellbinders 3D Embossing Folder
- CZ Design Sentiment Strips Reverse Winter
- Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gems Metallic Tones
- Delicate Snowflakes Etched Dies
- For sparkle, I splattered Silver Sparkle Base (available soon at Simon Says Stamp)
The Process
- First, I die-cut all the pieces for Eugene the Penguin out of coloured textured cardstock.
- Colorize compositions look beautiful when using that type of cardstock.
- Then, I added a hint of Pawsitively Saturated Mocha Ink at the edges of each piece.
- Once the image was complete, I worked in the background pieces.
- I die-cut an arched window in a 4-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ panel and I embossed it. Due to the size of the card (5×7) I used a large snowflake embossing folder.
- For contrast, I applied soft blue and green inks on a small piece of cardstock. Then I glued it behind the die-cut window.
- This easy the scene building as all you have to do is to adhere things within the window area ( or around it)
- For more texture, I also used a couple of die-cut snowflakes made using Delicate Snowflakes Etched Dies.
****For these I made my own Gilded Paper – you can see the process of creating Gilded Paper in the video here. The look and feel is incredible. - I also added little golden starts that I cut with dies included in the Be of Good Cheer Exclusive DieCember die set.
***Some of the Tim Holtz Dies have that type of little stars or accessories. that gives value to any composition. - Look for these because they are very cute to decorate Holiday Cards.
That’s all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
