Hi crafty friends, I wanted to mix and match goodies from the Postage Collage Collection by Waffle Flowers with other supplies in my stash!
l love the collection concept and how its components ( dies, stamps, stencils) coordinate to create beautiful seasonal compositions.
However, I’m always looking for ways to stretch the use of my supplies.
So I think the Postage Collage Background dies and the block stencils coordinate with any small stamps and stencils you might have.
POSTAGE COLLAGE – the Basics
The postage collage background dies and coordinating stencils are available in A2, A6, A7, Slimline, and Mini Slimline.
I wish someone told me that!!
I bought the A2 die set and the A6 and A7 stencils! Nooo!!
Learn from my mistakes… I didn’t see the size of the A6 when I was purchasing it, so I assumed it was an A2.
The stencils can be used alone but the die-cut background is gorgeous so I had to make it work because I was already exited with this.
So you will see me using masking tape in the video to add colour to each block and get a nice white edge.
Although this is not difficult, the inexpensive stencils will be better… Masking slowed me down and limited my creative possibilities but I didn’t want to wait any longer to try this…
Anyways… here is a speedy video to illustrate the process.
TOP TIP
When adding colours make sure to alternate the position of each shade so that helps to have a better visual effect.
Tone-on-tone colouring: I used Pawsitively Saturated Inks for the block’s backgrounds due to their transparency and Distress Oxide Inks to add colour to the images due to their opacity.
Both inks have water-reactive properties ( tend to look creamy – lighter when mixed with water)
Hibiscus Blooms
So I paired the A2 postage collage background die with the small images from the Hibiscus Blooms stamp set by Simon Says Stamp.
I also used stamps from the Postage Collage Love mini stamp set.
So I first die cut the panels using the A2 postage collage background die.
Then, I stamped the images using the Misti and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on Arches Cold Press Watercolour Paper ( smooth).
Inks used:
- BLOCK BACKGROUNDS: Ocean and Celery Pawsitively Inks.
- BIRDS AND FLOWERS: Prize Ribbon, Pine Needles, Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Inks.
- To add sparkle I used a Nuvo Shimmer Pen ( silver shimmer)
For this card, I also used bold butterfly images and sentiments from the Silhouette Sentiments stamp set by Simon Says Stamp
INKS USED
- BLOCK BACKGROUNDS: Guava and Iris Pawsitively Saturated Inks.
- BIRDS AND FLOWERS: Villanos Potion and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Inks.
- I also splatter gold watercolour paint from the Kuretake Starry Colors watercolour palette.
- To add sparkle I used a Nuvo Midas Touch ( gold shimmer) … This is absolutely gorgeous.
that is all for today
I hope you enjoyed this post
Happy Crafting
