Hello everyone, this month is all about paper wreaths for me and in this post I’m sharing a super cute and simple idea to build an oval wreath using leaves, birds and mushroom dies by Simon Says Stamp.
Most of the supplies used are from the latest release called Season of Wonder, it is DIVINE!
Birds and Mushrooms Dies for Cardmaking
I find this type of imagery timeless and adorable. The die sets are easy to use and layer up in different ways to create little scenes for any occasion card.
CardS Recipe
- Layered Bird Bunch Wafer Dies
- Tall Mushrooms Wafer Dies
- Holly Sprigs Wafer Die ( to create the wreath)
- Sentiment Strips Giving Thanks ( pre-printed sentiments)
- For the die-cuts, I used Neenah 80lb.
- Neenah 110lb was used for the embossed piece and card fronts.
This ultra-thick cardstock is great for embossing and front pannes. It provides a luxurious finish.
Its colour is not ultra white ( bluish) it is a bit warmer in tone so make the coloured die-cuts stand out.
*** Note: For your convenience, all the words highlighted in green are links to the actual product. You can also find the complete supplies list here or below.
Ink blending – Coloring
I applied a mix of purple and orange inks to the birds and for the leaves, I used a mix of orange, green, and brown inks.
This scene can be done in any colour… it is so super cute!
To add colour to all the die-cuts on these cards, I used Pawsitively Saturated ink cubes and brushes listed below:
- Birds: Iris, Heather, Grape Fruit, and Mandarin.
- Mushrooms: Latte, tattered rose distress ink, cherry, and a hint of Iris.
- The wreath – Holly Sprigs: Sunbean, Sprout, Mandarin, Mocha, and Cherry.
All the images were splattered using gold paint from the Kuretake Starry Colours Watercolor Set.
***Note: Please notice that the ink cubes are part of larger packages and aren’t sold individually but you can get individual full-size ink pads. All those are included in the supplies list.
So here is a top-fold C6 card. It measures 5-1/2″ x 4- 1/4″
I used the Holly Sprigs die set to create an oval wreath that gave me plenty of room to add the little scene. I only needed 2 main die cuts and 2 support die cuts (glued at the back for paper stability).
This mini card measures 4″x4-1/2″.
It also features an embossed background made using the must-have Wooden Planks Embossing Folder. It is beautiful!!!
I also lay out the elements in a different way. The sky’s the limit.
That’s all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
