Spellbinders LARGE DIE February 2022
- The Large Die of the month is called Typing Class.
- This is a 22 pieces die -set.
- It includes dies that will allow you to assemble a Typewriter and also different flowers designs.
- The set also includes five dies to cut generic sentiments in the illustration below.
The Cardmaking Process
This is an A6 card ( UK size – 6″ x 4-1/4″ inches). So this card is slightly larger than a C6 American standard card.
- First, I die-cut all the pieces using the Large Die of the month.
- Some were cut out of afordable watercolor paper that I previously painted using different colours of Arteza watercolor paints [Available at Arteza USA here – Arteza UK here]
- Other pieces were die cut out of Spellbinders Gold Cardstock.
- Then, I assembled the tywritter.
- As the typewriter die will cut a slit at the top of the machine, I added a little note with a hot foiled message using a glimmer plate from the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of this month called “Anytime Glimmer Sentiments”.
- To do hot foiling, I use the Spellbinders Hot foil System + The Spellbinders die-cutting machine Platinum 6″.
- To finish the card , I used dimentinal pads to adhered the die-cuts onto the card base.
- Done!
Small Die, stamp and die of the month February 2022
This very simple card was made using Stamp and Die of the month ( Old School Notes –Feb 2022).
I also die-cut a backing panel using one of the stitching dies from the Small Die this month, called Oval Stitch & Border
- First, I stamped the images on Neenah 80 lb cardstock using Memento Inks.
- Then, I added colors using Arteza Alcohol Markers.
- Next, I die-cut all the pieces using coordinating dies and set aside.
- I die-cut a background piece using a die from the Small Die this month and I stuck it onto the cardbase using foam tape.
- To finish , I stuck the pieces on the background as seen in the picture using double sided foam pads.
- Done!
Amazing Paper Grace February 2022
I don’t know what would you think but I decided to use dies included in the Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace (APG) this month to try to make a little pop-up bench!
So this prototype could be improved.
** All supplies used are listed at the bottom of this post.
- The APG this month is called Marvelous Medallion and it includes 13 cutting dies.
- Some of this dies will cut borders and other will cut little flowers and leaves seen in the pictures.
- There are many things you can do using the large border dies included in this die set but I just wanted to try something I have had in mind for quite a while.
Cardmaking Process
- First, I made the bench legs that are basically a narrow piece of paper folded to form a square ( basic pop- up)
- So I scored two 5″ x 1/4″ inches pieces of cardstock every 1″ inch, making two square pieces that would work as a that pop- up base.
- I openened the card base and I aligned the little square pop-ups with the cardbase center line.
- Then, I addhered one side of the square op- up to the back of the cardbase and the other to the front. [Hard to explain, but very easy to do.]
- Next, I glued the bench pieces over.
- I decorated the pieces using floral die-cuts.
- The banners where made using pre-printed Symphaty Sentiments Strips by Simon Says Stamp.
embossing folder + large die february 2022
Last month Spellbinders introduced a new subscription called ” Embossing Folder of the month”.
The embossing folders measure 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ inches and this month the embossing folder is called Sketched Floral” ( in the picture below)
The Cardmaking Process
- To make this card, I simply embossed a piece of watercolor paper.
- I sprayed water on the front and at the back of the paper prior to embossing and allowed to dry.
- Then, I used floral and leaves die-cuts made using the Large Die of the month to decorate.
- The sentiment “Happy” was hot foiled using a glimmer plate from Glimmer Hot Foil Kit.
- To complete the sentiment , I used teh die ” Birthday” from Layered Scrpit Sentimets die set ( I layered 3 die cuts to give stability).
