Hello! Today I’m participating in a Simon Says Stamp release Instagram hop. We’re featuring the DieCember® release and I’m sharing ideas using the new Aurora Blooms Die Set.
I also used the new Simple Hello Wafer Dies for one of the cards plus a game-changer element: the Simon Says Stamp Color Blend Cardstock.
The Color Blend Cardstock is awesome… I love its look and feel because is a coated cardstock (a little bit glossy and reflect the light)
Aurora Blooms Die Set
Aurora Blooms is a huge die set! It includes 31 individual dies that you can layer in different ways to create endless compositions.
Fun Fols Cards + Aurora Blooms
So for today, I decided to make fun fold cards in 2 different sizes. One of them measures 5×7 inches and the other one is smaller ( C6 card base = 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″)
Depending on the size of the card you want to create using this “Z fun fold”, you might need a standard or a large format die-cutting machine.
You are going to need 250 grams cardstock for the card base ( nothing thicker please).
Shhhh.. don’t tell anyone. I used 300 grams cardstock for the card bases because it is beautiful but that is why the folds don’t fold flat.
The Process
Regardless of the size of your project, all you have to do to create this ” fun fold” is to use a side fold card base.
Then, score a line across the centre of the front panel and partially die-cut the area near the side fold, then carefully fold the front panel upwards.
You can use any basic shape die to do this, I love heart dies.
Die- Cutting Top Tip
Replace one of the cutting plates of your die-cutting machine with a self-healing mat ( 3mm), place this mat underneath the aper and cut as usual.
By doing this you will avoid having marks of your cutting plates into the card base.
