You are going to love the die-cutting tip I have for you today featuring the gorgeous Gnome Tree Die Set by Spellbinders. Seriously you need to keep reading this!!
The Gnome Tree Die Set contains a single die that will cut all the pieces in one go ( You can see the die in the picture above) and the die set artwork below.
Key Die-Cutting Tip
If you have the Gnome Tree Die Set or any similar die like the one here, you might know that after die-cutting you can end up with a hot mess as you will have many little pieces flying around and you won’t know what is what.
I’m passing by to show you how to fix this, speed up the process and to make it super easy and fun. You can even mass produce!!!
First, click on the buttons below to watch the video versions for YouTube (60 seconds) or on my Instagram ( 90 seconds)
Now you might have a better idea of what I’m talking about.
It is simple. You are going to need a well worn die-cutting cutting plate and Simon Says Stamp Very Very Low Tack Tape.
In the videos, I first die-cut the paper using a barely used die-cutting plate. It was slippery and the paper sled over it very quickly.
So the first thing you need to know is that you might need a well-worn cutting plate to work with this kind of die ( at least this works for me all the time)
A well-worn die-cutting cutting plate has many little marks or micro indentations that will grab/ hold the die-cuts in place after die-cutting.
You just need to be careful and while the die-cuts are still laying over the well-worn die-cut plate, you need to use the Simon Says Stamp Very Very Low Tack Tape to hold them in place.
Once the tape is holding all the die-cuts together, you can lift them up from the plate to then adhere them to a backing panel or any other area of your project.
Allow the glue to fully dry and carefully remove the tape.
The Very Very Low Tack Tape here is perfect for doing this because is incredibly easy to remove it from the die-cuts and it doesn’t leave any adhesive residue. Plus you can re-use it.
I used the same pieces of tape to hold the pieces for those projects.
If you can’t get The Very Very Low Tack Tape by Simon Says Stamp, you can try washi tape or any ” very low tack tape” you might have.
oh!! It is very important to let you know that the well-worn plates will hold any die-cut so you can just leave the small layering pieces over the plate while you glue them one by one to your projects.
**** Yes!! These will work with any similar die set like the one here.
Gnome Tree Xmas Cards 2 Ways
Here are 2 card designs using the same supplies and the result of passing the Gnome Tree die twice through the die-cutting machine.
I also used the main image from the Joyful Words Stamp Set to stamp the background of the cards.
As always, I play with colour coordination so the inks and paper used match.

Gnome Tree C6 Card
This is An A6 card.
I simply stamped the background using Sage ink and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink using the Misti and then I stuck the Gnome Tree topper over.
Gnome Tree Partially Die-Cut Xmas Card
This is a 6×6 partially die-cut card.
First , I partially die-cut the edge of the card base using an alsmot new die-cut plate I have only to do partially die-cut card bases beacsue it won’t mark the paper at the back.
Then, I stamped the background using Sage ink and Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink also using the Misti and then I stuck the Gnome Tree topper over.
I embellish using gold sequins from the SSS Holly Sparkle Pack.
That’s all for today.
I hope you liked this post and the die-cutting tips.
Happy crafting x Bibi
