Hi there, for today I’m featuring the new Night Before Christmas Stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Handmade Holiday Release.
I’m also sharing a super easy idea and technique to achieve a multicolour background in time record.
To make all the projects in this post, I used Says Stamps Inks (backgrounds), Versafine Onyx Black Ink. ( bold black images )
For the banners, I used preprinted sentiments included in Sentiments Strips Slimline Christmas and Sentiments Strips Reverse Holiday.
Ink Blending Over the Stamp Video
Cardmaking Process
- To stamp the background, I applied a technique that involves the Misti Stamping Tool and ink blending over the stamp.
- So all you have to do is to apply different ink colours ( directly from the ink pad) , over different areas of the background stam.
- Then, using different blending brushes ( to avoid ink contamination) you need to soften any hard line of ink created by the ink pads over the stamp and blend the colours a little bit.
- Once this is done you can repeat and repeat the process to achieve colour intesity.
- Clean the stamp and leave it on the platform.
- Then, for perfect aligment while the background stamp is still on the stamping platform place the other stamps with the images you need to stamp using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. ( or any other color) .
- Carfulffly remove the background portion of the stamp.
- Apply black ink over the images and stamp to complete the scene.
Ink Colours Used
- SCHOOLHOUSE RED Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- ORANGE PEEL Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- CITRINE Pawsitively Saturated Ink
- LIMELICIOUS Pawsitively Saturated Ink
- DEEP SEA Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- OCEAN Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pad
- SURF Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pad
- ROSE Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- MAGNOLIA Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- VELVET ORCHID Simon Says Stamp Premium Dye Ink
- Tsukineko VersaFine ONYX BLACK Ink.
- Black Sooth Distress Ink.
Note: Versafine Onyx Black Ink will bleed if you use alcohol markers, so I used a water-based Nuvo glitter marker to add colour to the little house windows.
I also splatter the panels using Sparkle Silk, which is a shimmery solution that you can apply over anything just like shimmer pens but it comes in a nail polish bottle.
Night Before Christmas Stamp
Big is the new trend and Night Before Christmas Stamp is a massive cling stamp.
It is made out of red rubber and it measures 6″x8″ inches but please don’t get confused by its size.
This stamp will allow you to can create panels for large cards, boxes, gift bags, scrapbooking projects, mini album covers, etc, also traditional C6 cards, slimline cards, and tags… The ski’s the limit.
Next week I’ll be sharing small projects using this stamp so make sure to come back.
Preprinted sentiments and banners
For the sentiments, I used the affordable and incredibly useful Sentiments Strips Slimline Christmas and Sentiments Strips Reverse Holiday packs.
You can trim and layout the sentiments to fit any project size.
Night Before Christmas Ideas
So first, I wanted to make a card using a full-size panel made using the Night Before Christmas Stamp.
This card measures 5 -1/2″ x 7 -3/4″ inches.
To make the card base, I folded a piece of cardstock in half (very little was trimmed around the edges to finish it).
I also used sequins from the SSS Autumn Sky Sequin Mix to embellish.
You can also die-cut the panels to make slimline cards.
These cards measure 3-3/4 x 7-1/2″ inches.
Here you can also see samples on how to use the banners made using Sentiments Strips Slimline Christmas and Sentiments Strips Reverse Holiday packs. Any layout will work.
To embellish, I also used sequins from the SSS Autumn Sky Sequin Mix
Last but not least, I also wanted to make a little gift box using a stamped panel.
This box measures 4-3/4 ” x 4-1/2″ inches. You can make it narrower, smaller, or larger.
To make the box top panel, I also used the new Birch Trees Stencil. I thought this stencil coordinates perfectly with the Night Before Christmas Stamp.
To stencil the tree images, I applied a very heavy coat of Black Sooth Distress Ink using a blending brush.
