Hi there, for today I made a very simple slimline card using the new Slimline Floral Border stencil by Simon Says Stamps.
This stencil is very easy to use and is part of the SSS Make Magic release. ( Sadly it has been sold out but it will be back in stock on August 15th, 2021)
For now, let me show you an idea to get crafty with it using Distress Oxide inks.
The Cardmaking Process
- First , I die-cut the butterflies and a background panel out of Neenah 110 Lb cardstock.
- Then, I added a litte bit of Seedless Preserve Oxide Distress ink ove the center of the die-cut butterflies.
- I applied ink through the Slimline Floral Border stencil over the panel using Detail Ink applicators by Ranger .
- Using Fresly Cut Stencil, I added larger grass to the stenciled image.
- To stencil the clouds, I used a large Ergonomic blending brush which is fantastic to do a smooth ink blending.
- Next, I stamped the sentiment using 2 stamps from Slimline Beautiful You stamp set.
- I used a Fossilized Amber and Spiced Mermalade Oxide Distress Inks to stamp the words ” You are“. For the rest of the sentiment I used Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
- To add a little bit of sparkle, I applied Withe Glitter embosisng powder over the panel and I heat it up. (The embossing powder only got stuck on certain areas where the ink was still wet)
- I added little dots using a black pen to embellish.
Distress Oxide Inks Used
- Flowers: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Mermalade, Seedless Preserves, Shaded Lilac.
- Leaves: Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover.
- Clouds: Weathered Wood.
Stenciling Tip:
- When using “cloud stencils” start is better to start working from the top to the bottom of the panel.
- Avoid re-inking your blending brush as you go to achieve softer colours as you reach the bottom of the panel.
What is new?
Thirsty for more?
That’s all for today.
I hope you have enjoyed this post.
Happy Crafting.

Oh Bibi, that is so pretty! I really like the summery effect you have achieved with this lovely card. I think I am going to have to invest in some of those blending brushes one day. I hae some Inkylicious Ink Dusters but I think people are getting smoother results with these make-up brush look-alikes!

Bibi, the colors are wonderful… I am glad you used distressed oxides as I always appreciate examples using those inks. And I never thought of offsetting my panels. Thanks for sharing your card.
