The Card Making Process
All the cards in this post measures 6 -3/4″ x 3-1/2″ inches.
The Birds
You can apply a wide variety of techniques to give life to these cute die-cut birds.
- I die cut the birds out of Neenah Solar Crest 80 Lb cardstock ( white), and I applied colours using Copic markers in reddish, pink, orange, and brown.
The Birdhouses
- First, I applied Altenew watercolour paints over several sheets of watercolor paper. I did this as unevenly as possible.
- Then, I splattered the paper using the same paint colour but more concentrated ( darker).
- Next, I allow my daughter (Emma) to spray a mist of Nuvo Silver and Gold Mica over the paper.
- I die-cut all the accessories out of these watercolor sheets.
- The main “house die-cuts” were cut out of smooth white cardstock.
The Background Panels
- I used the larger rectangle die from Mini Slimline Rectangles Die Set by Simon Says Stamp to die-cut the background panels out of hammered cardstock.
- By using colored watercolor die-cut paper, the compositions could look a little bit busy so I decided to use Hammered cardstock for the background.
- Hammered cardstock resembles the texture of watercolor paper but is a lot more affordable and as watercolor paper, this type of cardstock is not truly white but ivory, and it is very popular here in the UK.
The Sentiments
For the sentiments, I used Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer set, Brass Hot Foil , the Spellbinders Hot Foil System, and the Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. (Watch a video about hot foiling here)
This is a must have!
It contains 26 sentiments and 3 banner dies to cut them out.
That’s all for today
I hope you enjoy this post, the ideas and this adorable die collection!
