Hello! I made a big Christmas card using some of the supplies included in the Altenew November Release.
I had so much fun creating this… It measures 7″x7″ inches…Love the HUGE format!
You can make a 6″x 6″ card using the same design idea and the same supplies.
Big Christmas Card + Wreath and Cardinals
- You can create paper wreaths using any curved die-cut or stamps.
- When using die-cuts, you can break the fibres of the paper and bend it to fit a circular or oval design.
- Adding sparkle and metallic accents is a must.
- Symmetry is also important and easy to achieve by mirroring the position of the die-cuts
Wreath Recipe
To make this 7″x7″ Christmas card, I used the following supplies:
- Intertwining Leaves Layering Die Set ( small curved leaves in the set)
- Fresh Flowers Die Set ( smaller flowers in the set and leaves)
- Cardinal Love Layering Die Set ( die-cut birds)
***You can see how I made the cardinals in the short video here - Timeless Sentiments Die Set ( Peace & Joy Sentiment in the finished card)
Making Big Cards
I have been living in the Uk for over 12 years and here cardmakers enjoy making big cards… I think I finally found the joy in creating larger projects.
Once you are bitten by the large format bug, there is no cure. You want to go bigger.
The 7×7 format is just 1″ inch larger than the standard 6×6, and it is great because:
– You have more room to create.
– It’s easier and quicker to put any composition together.
– The compositions look more substantial and luxurious.
-Awesome to work with big dies.
The joy of making big cards is the joy of using big dies.
So I want to invite you to try large card formats. Leave your A2 comfort zone and give it a try.
Drop me a comment letting me know if you accept the challenge to make BIG cards.
Happy crafting.
