Hello Crafty friends, it is the 12th anniversary of DieCember® an event organized by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate the magic of die-cutting.
Today over 80 papercraft artists and designers from all over the world are joining a Blog Party here to share ideas and inspiration that will get your creative juices flowing.
I’m passing by to share two Christmas card ideas that feature easy cardmaking techniques. Would you believe one of them was made by my sister who has never done cardmaking before?
Birdie Xmas Cards
This is a C6 Top – Fold Card that features:
- An inked and embossed background with the raised image highlighted using white ink.
- Die-cuts cut out of white and coloured cardstock with ink accents and gold splatters.
- Metallic accents and glitter die-cut sentiment.
- The birdie also features striking contrasting ink colours (chosen by my sister Gina).
- For the background, we used Moring and Seafoam Pawstively Inks ( chosen by me)
- This card has a little bit of dimension easily added by using Simon Says Stamp foam squares.

- Rustic Nest Wafer Dies
- Embossing Folder Holly Wreath
- Fanciful Joy Wafer Dies
- CZ Design Clear Stamps Peaceful Trees
So I initially coloured the birdie using green and red inks, but my sister Gina came to my craft room and told me the colour choice did not benefit the whole composition.
I always ask Alexa ( Yes -the Amazon device) for advice about the colours that could be trendy. It is a lot better to have a human with different tastes making a suggestion.
Gina wanted to use intense blue and red wine colours. I thought it was a interesting colour choice and agreed to give them a try…
I have never laughed so much doing such a simple things in my craft room and the results… you can see for yourself.
Was Gina’s colour choice a good one?
She also said she wanted to use blue and gold for the background and she was imagining the little birdie sitting on his nest in the middle of the trees.
She used the gold ink pad to try to trace some trees… I told her not to worry as what we can imagine could not be reflected in the final results…
It is always good trying and experiment .
I think she did great! Hard to tell this was her fist card ever
She used the fallowing supplies:
- Jolly Birdie Wafer Die
- Rustic Nest Wafer Dies
- Embossing Folder Poinsettia Jubilee
- CZ Design Merry Christmas Wafer Dies
