Hello there, I had fun playing with small die cuts produced by the new Scare A Crow die set designed by Nichole Spohr for Spellbinders.
Totally love the detail put into this 17 PCS die set!
You can use dies individually to make a variety of projects.
I allowed myself to make a no conventional “Love/ Thank you” card using it.
Scare Crow Love / Thank You Card
A couple of days ago, I shared an A5 format card in a blog post here.
The card in that blog post is HUGE, and when sharing it on social media many people told me that their fav format is 5×7 inches.
So I decided to make a 5×7 inches card for today.
The Cardmaking Process
- First, I die cut all the pieces from SCARE A CROW die set out of diffeent cardstock colours .
- I used the GEMINI Die-Cutting And Embossing Machine.
- To add interest to the die-cuts I added Gathered Twigs Distress Ink over the edges using a small blending brush.
- For the background, I blended Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and Seedles Preserves Distress Oxide Ink over a piece of Smooth Cardstock (300grams) using SSS Blending Brushes.
- Then, I sprayed water over the panel using a Tonic Spray Bottle ( this created white speckles and a soft texture)
- When the panel was dry, I die-cut it using a die from Honey Bee STACKING HEARTS Dies , and I set this to aside.
- Next, I mixed Seedles Preserves Distress Oxide Ink and also Black Sooth Ink with water to splater the front panel of a 5×7 inches card base.
- I allowed the card base to dry and I adhered the heart over it using adhesive foam tape.
- All the elements were adhere overthe heart using Nuvo DELUXE ADHESIVE.
- To finish, I added a banner stamped with a sentiment from Honey Bee GRATEFUL EACH DAY Clear Stamp Set.
- The sentiment was stamped using VersaFine ONYX BLACK Ink and the MISTI.
- As I love accents I also applied Nuvo Crystal Glace over the eyes.
- To embellish I used clear sequins.
Gemini Die-Cutiting machine
I recently bought the Gemini Die Cutting Machine! I used to think that it was a boring machine as I like to feel the die-cutting workout.
However, my wrist en fingers have been a bit sore for the last couple of months.
As crafting is my job, I do die-cutting all the time.
While working with the electric Gemini, I felt I have time to do other things while she was doing a fast, perfect job.
She took the die-cutting pressure away! it was fantastic.
Tip
To speed the die-cutting, I used the Gemini Junior cutting plates (listed below) with the large electric die-cutting machine.
To avoid plates warping, I rotate the palates every time I run them through the machine.
Although is too early to say if this will prevent the plates to wrap. Let’s wait and see ( It seems this is the complaint of many)
Thirsty for more?

That’s all for today!
I hope you like this project!
