Hello crafty friends! I’m excited to share this playful and heartwarming card featuring the iconic Steamboat Willie Minnie Mickey Mouse Duo– a design that bursts with cuteness, colour, and classic Disney charm.
I know .. I know. You all might be wondering: Bibi, what about copyrights? I had the same question, but I also know that Spellbinders would never infringe copyright laws – nor would I.
Researching, I found that the original Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse (The black-and-white Steamboat Willie version of Mickey, with simpler eyes, no gloves, etc.) has expired ( Jan 1st, 2024), placing it in the public domain = free for public use under copyright law.
All of us in the papercraft industry hold deep respect for intellectual property rights. Reason why I want to make it clear: this is not a Disney product, and we all need to be careful not to present our work as official Disney merchandise.
With this very necessary information, Thanks to a collaboration between Spellbinders and Simple Stories, we can now enjoy the magic of these all-time favourite characters with respect and gratitude.

Although the collection includes other dies and papers, I paired the Steamboat Willie Minnie Mickey Mouse Duo Etched Dies with the new Gifting Bow die set, also by Spellbinders.
This is also to show you that you can mix and match unexpected supplies to create endless compositions.
Creative Die-cutting

This 5×7 inches handmade card can be customised for any occasion.
It brings together a layered die-cut composition with an inlaid striped background made using a stripes die. The die-cut pattern resembles a wrapped gift—how cool (and easy!) is that?
The die-cut banner was made using dies from the Gifting Bow die set that says: “ A gift for you“.
To complete it, I stamped: “Cuz I love you so much”, this is one of the sentiments from the Clear Hugs to You stamp set by Simon Says Stamp.

Everything came together like a little storybook scene on a card front. This card is sure to bring a smile to any Disney lover’s face.
Let me know in the comments how you’d personalise your Mickey & Minnie duo!
Happy crafting,
