Hello! we are celebrating the launch of Spellbinders UK with a blog hop + giveaways and I made easy Christmas cards using the Ice Skate and Holiday Blooms die sets by Spellbinders.
I’m also sharing an idea to colourise die-cuts using WOW embossing powders, which are also great to add heat-embossed accents such as snow and sparkle.
The Ice Skate die set
- The Ice Skate die set is a clever single die that cuts and embosses the paper.
- It will create a large Ice Skate that measures 4″ x 3-1/2″ inches and it will fit in the front panel of a C6 card. Two Ice Skates will fit in a 5×7 inches panel.
- This set is great to create shaped tags or cards in different sizes ( C6, 5×5 inches, 6×6 inches, and 5×7 inches would be great card sizes )
Heat Embossed Accents
I also wanted to add some sparkle and snowy accents to make these projects look more Christmasy.
So I used WOW Antique Rose embossing powder to cover the Ice Skate boot and I applied Antique Gold embossing powder at the edges of the flowers and leaves.
Both powders are included in the WOW Frosted Jewes Trio.
These powders are a mix of Ultra High white and glitter. They are really gorgeous and you can also make your own by mixing white embossing powder and ultra fine glitter.
I believe these little accents make all the difference.
Cards Recipe
- Ice Skates:
Ice Skate Etched Dies + Antique Rose Embossing powder included in the Frosted Jewels WOW Embossing Powder Trio. - Flowers and leaves:
Holiday Blooms Etched Dies + Antique Gold Embossing powder included in the Frosted Jewels WOW Embossing Powder Trio. - Stamped and Gold Heat Embossed Sentiments:
Winter Garden Sentiments Clear Stamp Set + WOW Gold Rich Embossing Powder (included in the WOW starter Kit). - Embellishments:
Fashion Gold Embellishments.
The Cardmaking Process
- I started by die-cutting two ice skates out of white cardstock.
- Then, I cut one of the ice skates into 3 parts: the sole and heal part, the blade, and the boot.
- Next, I added Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain Inks to the sole and the heel part.
- For the boot, I use Antique Rose embossing powder included in the Frosted Jewels WOW Embossing Powder Trio.
- To add a glossy look to the blade, I applied various layers of the Opaque Primary Fossil embossing powder included in the WOW Time Traveler Trio.
- I used clear ink to adhere the powder to the different die-cuts.
- I also die-cut the flowers and leaves out of coloured cardstock using the new Holiday Blooms die-set.
- I applied clear ink over the edge of the flowers and leaves, then I sprinkled Antique Gold embossing powder included in the Frosted Jewels WOW Embossing Trio and I heat set.
